This 256 Beds, 64-unit, Apartment style units, dormitory was designed after a study conducted by Wali Caradine, AIA on new trends in student housing at colleges and universities throughout the country. It was one of the first apartment style dormitory in Arkansas. The extensive planning that was done for this project, prior to the design, proved to be very valuable to the university because not only did it provide a new concept in housing, it also provided the university with the latest trends and delivery of services to students at a more efficient level.

The dormitory's common areas were equipped with study halls, complete with computer network connections to the internet and other computer related technologies. Each apartment consisted of a living/dinning room, built in kitchen and a two (2) occupant bedroom unit complete with built-in furniture consisting of bed, wardrobe and storage units.The common areas such as the bathroom facilities, kitchen, living/dinning area is designed to accommodate up four (4) occupants per apartment.

The apartment buildings are centered around courtyards with attractive flower beds and landscaped lawns. The focus point of the project is the Commons Building which includes a full service cafeteria that not only will serve the apartments in this project but will serve other campus facilities that are in close proximity to the dormitory project.

Other features of the Commons Building are apartments for the manager and assistant manager, study halls and correls with computer workstations, security desks and lounge area as well as meeting rooms, and parking for students and visitors. The project consist of more than 45,000 sq. ft. and was constructed at a cost of 5.3 million dollars and built in approximately sixteen (16) months.
